Fort Worth Stockyards Spooktacular All-Ages Ghost Walk
The Stockyards still run cattle down Exchange Avenue every afternoon, and some of the cowboys watching from the boardwalk have been there since the 1880s. The Spooktacular is our family-friendly 90-minute walk through Cowtown's haunted history.
📍 Departs from: Second Rodeo Brewing, 122 East Exchange Ave (in Mule Alley-turn into the Alley by the Shake Shack) — please arrive about 15 minutes early to check in with your guide.
The walk departs from Second Rodeo Brewing at 122 E Exchange Avenue and starts in Mule Alley, then covers a little under a mile through the historic Fort Worth Stockyards. Your costumed guide leads you past the old brick exchange buildings, the saloons where Wild West shootouts left imprints that have not faded and the basements that staff still avoid after dark. Come early and catch the 4 pm cattle drive on Exchange Avenue before the ghosts take over.
The stories cover how Cowtown came to be and who refused to leave it: ghostly cowboys still wandering the streets, mischievous poltergeists in the old hotels and the outlaws who passed through, including Bonnie and Clyde and Wyatt Earp. Most of the spirits are friendly, and our guides know exactly where they lurk, so the tour can be dialed up for thrill-seekers or softened for the youngest wranglers in the group. Everyone leaves with a few stories and a new respect for the Stockyards after dark.
The tour runs about ninety minutes, entirely outdoors, rain or shine, so dress for Texas weather and wear boots or shoes you can walk in. You are welcome to grab a drink or ice cream at the start, though neither is included or required. Children 4 and under join free with a paying adult; contact us to add them to your booking. Your guide will point you toward dinner, line dancing or the rodeo when the walk ends.

Is it suitable for young kids?
Yes. It is our all-ages tour and the guide keeps the stories spooky but friendly. Kids 4 and under are free; just contact us to add them to your booking.
How much walking is there?
A little under a mile over 90 minutes on Stockyards sidewalks and brick streets. Strollers manage fine with a little care on the brick.
Can we bring a drink along?
You can buy a drink or ice cream at the start if you like. Neither is included, and there are no bar stops on this all-ages walk.
What if it rains?
We walk rain or shine, so bring a poncho. If weather becomes unsafe we will contact you about rescheduling.
