Washington DC Haunted History Field Trip
American history with the lights turned down. Our Washington field trip walks students through the blocks around the White House and Lafayette Square, pairing the facts in their textbooks with the legends the textbooks leave out.
๐ Departs from: OUTSIDE of the Occidental. โ please arrive about 15 minutes early to check in with your guide.
Groups typically begin near Lafayette Square and spend about ninety minutes on foot with a costumed guide, covering roughly a mile of the capital's most historic ground. The stories are chosen for a school audience: the duel that ended at a boarding house, the first lady who still checks on her garden, the hauntings reported by White House staff across two centuries and the real events behind each one. Guides keep it lively, age-appropriate and tied to the history your students are already studying.
Field trips run Monday through Friday between 9 am and 5 pm, and the pace and starting location can be adjusted to your schedule. One guide leads up to about 20 students; larger groups are split between guides so everyone can hear. We require one chaperone for every 10 students and provide those chaperone tickets at no cost. Bagged lunches and a park stop can be worked into the route on request.
Pricing is $200 flat for groups of 15 or fewer, $13 per student for groups of 16 to 40 and $10 per student for groups over 40, each plus a 15% service charge; additional adults beyond the required chaperones are $15 each. Metro stations surround the route, and buses can drop off and pick up along Pennsylvania Avenue or at nearby hotel loading zones.
