San Diego Private Nightmares and Nightcaps Tour
One haunted Gaslamp bar, one nightcap and ninety minutes of San Diego's seedier ghost stories, all for your group alone. The Private Nightmares and Nightcaps Tour is the darker, shorter cousin of our pub crawl.
📍 Departs from: INSIDE Salt + Whiskey in the Horton Grand Hotel, 311 Island Ave. — please arrive about 15 minutes early to check in with your guide.
Your group meets its costumed guide at a haunted Gaslamp Quarter bar and orders an optional nightcap while the guide explains who else is drinking there, and for how many decades. Then you head out along the famed Fifth Avenue for about a mile of walking past the Quarter's historic buildings, with stories told without the family filter: the Stingaree red-light district, the hotel guests who never checked out, the haunted vessels in the harbor and the house Congress itself calls the most haunted in America.
This tour fits a friends' night out, a bachelorette crew that wants chills with its cocktails, a convention group that needs a reason to leave the hotel bar or a date night with a pulse. Private tours run every day with start times from 1 pm to 8 pm, and the duration, meeting location and drink stop can be adjusted. Guests at Hotel Indigo Gaslamp, Marriott Gaslamp, Hard Rock, Omni, Horton Grand, Comfort Inn Gaslamp or Hotel Z can have the guide meet them at the hotel.
Pricing starts at $325 for up to 10 guests, with additional tickets from $27.50, and rises to $375 from mid-September through mid-November. One guide takes 16 to 22 guests depending on the date; groups of 16 or more book by email and larger groups add a guide. Everyone must be 18 or older, and only guests 21+ with ID may buy alcohol. Your guide closes the night with a recommendation for a haunted bar in one of the oldest buildings in the Gaslamp.

Do guests need to be 21?
No. The tour is 18 and over. Only guests ordering the nightcap need to be 21 with valid ID.
How is this different from the Booze and Boos?
Shorter and darker. One bar stop instead of three, ninety minutes instead of two and a half hours, and stories we save for adults.
How do we book a larger group?
Base pricing covers up to 10 guests. Reserve online for up to 15 and email us for 16 or more so we can add a guide.
Is it available outside the fall season?
Yes. Public San Diego tours are seasonal, but private tours run year-round on request.
