Houston Spooktacular All-Ages Ghost Walk
Houston is one of the most haunted cities in America and most people drive right past it. The Spooktacular slows things down to walking speed, with a costumed guide and ninety minutes of downtown ghost stories the whole family can enjoy.
📍 Departs from: Hotel ICON, 220 Main St. OUTSIDE the Congress Street Lobby Entrance. — please arrive about 15 minutes early to check in with your guide.
The walk begins at Hotel ICON, 220 Main Street, inside the old Houston National Bank, where your guide shows you what remains of the bank and introduces the employee who never left his office after the Great Depression. From there the route drops down to haunted Buffalo Bayou, climbs back up to historic Market Square Park, where City Hall burned to the ground three times, and winds through downtown for a little under a mile before finishing at a haunted food hall.
The stories cover Houston's founding on the bayou, the fires, floods and feuds that shaped the early city and the residents who stuck around to see how it all turned out. Most of the spirits you will hear about are friendly, and our guides know exactly where the less friendly ones hang out, so they can steer the group toward thrills or away from nightmares depending on who is along. Curious kids, skeptical teens and grandparents who remember old downtown all tend to leave happy.
The tour runs about ninety minutes, entirely outdoors, rain or shine, so dress for Houston weather and wear comfortable shoes. Minors need an accompanying adult, and children 4 and under join free with a paying adult. There are no bar stops on this all-ages walk, and the food hall finish means dinner is sorted the moment the last story ends.

Is it suitable for young kids?
Yes. It is our all-ages tour and the guide keeps the stories spooky but friendly. Minors must be with an adult, and kids 4 and under are free.
How much walking is there, and can we bring a stroller?
A little under a mile over 90 minutes, including the slope down to Buffalo Bayou and back up. Strollers are fine; expect one decent hill.
Does the tour stop at any bars?
No. The Spooktacular has no drink stops. It ends at a haunted food hall, so you can eat as soon as the ghosts are done with you.
What if it rains?
We walk rain or shine, so bring a poncho. Houston storms tend to pass quickly. If conditions become unsafe we will contact you about rescheduling.
