New Orleans Happy Hour Hauntings
Ghost stories, hole-in-the-wall bars and drink specials so cheap they are frightening. Happy Hour Hauntings is our weekday afternoon tour through the French Quarter for adults who like their history with a side of happy hour.
๐ Departs from: Double Club, 307 Chartres St. โ please arrive about 15 minutes early to check in with your guide.
The tour starts at Cafe Lafitte in Exile at 901 Bourbon Street, one of the oldest gay bars in America and home to a few patrons who have not left since the 1950s. Grab a drink, meet your costumed guide and head out across the French Quarter from one end to the other, about a mile in all, ducking into off-the-beaten-path dives and locals' favorites along the way. Your guide knows where the happy hour deals are and where the ghosts are, and the two overlap more than you would expect.
Between bars you hear about the dead who have not quite moved on: the spirits haunting the buildings locals drink in, the residents who still walk the balconies above Bourbon Street and the stories the big nighttime tours skip. The vibe is lighthearted and the drinks are cheap, but the hauntings are the real deal. Expect two hours, roughly four stops and a guide who will tell you where to eat real New Orleans food when it is over.
Happy Hour Hauntings runs weekday afternoons, rain or shine, so dress for the weather. All guests must be 21 or older with valid ID. Drinks are not included and never required. Because the route crosses the Quarter's old, uneven sidewalks, it is not recommended for anyone with mobility issues or for guests who have already had a long afternoon on Bourbon Street.

New Orleans Happy Hour Hauntings FAQs
Are drinks included?
No. Drinks are purchased at each bar, but your guide steers you to the happy hour specials, which is the whole point.
What is the age requirement?
21 and over with valid ID, no exceptions. For a family-friendly option, see our Spooktacular All-Ages Ghost Walk.
How is this different from Booze and Boos?
Same ghost-tour-meets-pub-crawl format, but in the afternoon, with cheaper drinks and a focus on dive bars rather than the famous spots. It is also a little lower priced.
How much walking is there?
About a mile over two hours, across old French Quarter sidewalks. Comfortable shoes help, and the route is not ideal for limited mobility.
