Alexandria Haunted History Field Trip
History class, but with ghost stories and a guide in colonial costume. Our Alexandria field trip gets students out of the classroom and onto the streets where the city's founders, soldiers and scandals actually happened.
๐ Departs from: In front of City Hall โ please arrive about 15 minutes early to check in with your guide.
The Haunted History Field Trip is a daytime walking tour of Old Town Alexandria designed for school groups, camps and youth organizations. Students meet their costumed guide at Waterfront Park, then set off past some of the oldest buildings in the city while the guide weaves together Alexandria's founding, its role in shaping the nation's capital, political scandal, ghostly soldiers and the occasional founding member who may still make an appearance. The spirits are friendly, the history is real, and the storytelling keeps even the back-of-the-bus crowd paying attention.
The walking tour is recommended for ages 9 and up, but we adapt. For younger groups a guide can visit in costume and tailor stories and games to the age level. All of our guides are experienced storytellers with history and paranormal backgrounds, have worked with kids of all ages and have passed background checks. Trips run Monday through Friday between 9 am and 5 pm for groups of 5 to 100, and we can meet elsewhere and walk the group to the park if you are combining it with the Torpedo Factory, The Lyceum or the Apothecary Museum.
Pricing is a flat $215 for groups of 15 or fewer, $15 per student for 16 to 40 and $13 per student above 40, each plus a 15% service charge. One chaperone per 10 students is free, as are aides for participants with disabilities; extra adults are $20. Bring bagged lunches, since Waterfront Park has room to spread out and restrooms nearby. Anonymous sponsorships are available for Title One schools.
