The evening begins at The Griffon, 18 Vendue Range, a bar with a reputation for pouring drinks for the living and hosting a few regulars who are not. Grab an optional nightcap, settle in and let your guide introduce you to the spirits behind the bar. Then it is out the door and into the French Quarter for a little under a mile of walking through some of the oldest streets in the city, where the stories are told without the family-friendly filter.
Charleston earned its ghosts the hard way: pirates hanged on the waterfront, a jail that held the worst of them, duels, fires, earthquakes and a long list of residents who died badly and stayed put. Your guide pulls from all of it over ninety minutes, stopping at historic buildings and shadowy corners where something unpleasant happened and, by many accounts, keeps happening. The tone is eerie and playful rather than theatrical, and the small group size means you can actually hear every word.
The tour wraps with your guide's personal recommendation for another haunted bar so the night can keep going. Everyone must be 18 or older; only guests 21+ with ID may drink. The route covers historic sidewalks that are uneven in places, so it is not recommended for anyone with mobility restrictions. Tours run every day, rain or shine.

Do I need to be 21?
No. The tour is open to anyone 18 and older. You only need to be 21 with a valid ID if you want to order the nightcap at The Griffon.
Is the drink included?
No. The nightcap is optional and you pay the bar directly. Plenty of guests join for the stories alone.
How much walking is involved?
A little under a mile over about 90 minutes on historic, sometimes uneven sidewalks. Comfortable shoes are a must, and the route is not ideal for limited mobility.
What happens if it rains?
We walk in all weather, so dress for it. The first stop is indoors, and Charleston rain tends to improve the atmosphere anyway.
