Charleston Spooktacular All-Ages Ghost Walk
Pirates, poltergeists and the restless dead of the Holy City, served up by a costumed guide at a volume the whole family can handle. The Charleston Spooktacular is a swashbuckling 90-minute walk through one of America's most haunted downtowns.
📍 Departs from: Steps of City Hall at the Four Corners of Law, 80 Broad St — please arrive about 15 minutes early to check in with your guide.
Your pirate guide gathers the crew just outside Henry's on the Market, and from there the route winds through the cobblestone lanes of historic Charleston for a little under a mile. You will pass graveyards that have been filling up since the 1700s, some of the oldest buildings in the city and the harbor itself, where watchful spirits are said to still keep an eye on Fort Sumter. Expect plenty of pauses in front of unassuming doorways with surprisingly grim backstories.
The stories lean nautical: the pirates, ruffians and bootleggers who once ran these waters, the sailors who did not make it home and the citizens who tangled with them. Most of the spirits you will hear about are friendly, though a few of the spookier ones have a habit of turning up uninvited. Our guides know which corners to approach carefully and which to hurry past, and they tune the telling for the youngest buccaneers in the group. The only requirement is a little courage.
The walk runs about ninety minutes and ends close to where it started, so your guide can send you straight on to dinner or dessert. Children 4 and under are free with a paying adult, and younger kids need a guardian along. We walk rain or shine, so dress for Charleston weather and wear shoes that can handle brick and cobblestone.

Is it too scary for young children?
No. This is our all-ages tour and the guide keeps the spooky dial at family level. Kids who like pirate stories tend to love it. Minors need an adult along.
How far do we walk and can we bring a stroller?
A little under a mile over 90 minutes, outdoors on brick and cobblestone. Strollers work, but a carrier may be easier on the rougher stretches.
Does the tour stop at bars or restaurants?
No. The Spooktacular has no drink or food stops. Your guide will happily point the group toward a good meal when the walk ends.
What if it rains?
We run in all weather. Bring rain gear and we will bring the ghosts. If conditions become dangerous we will contact you about rescheduling.
